Does your appearance change the way you are treated?

Hi guys! So today I wanted to talk about something that is a bit of a touchy subject. I just want to put my opinion out there.

Now we all like to dress up and look our best right? (OK maybe not everyone but some of us do?) We like to wear nice clothes, do our make up and hair. Then there are days we would rather die than put that foundation on or frankly even brush our hair. Sound familiar?

DISCLAIMER: Now in no way am I saying this happens to everyone nor that you have to change yourself for anyone. Also I don’t mean to offend anyone!

In a few occasions I have noticed people being treated differently because of their appearance. Now EVERYONE judges and that doesn’t mean necessarily in a bad way but it can go both ways. You can judge someone by saying “oh I love that girls hair” because that’s a judgment you have made about that person.

I’ll let you guys in on my experience, not long ago I went to Sydney with my sister . I was wearing a T-shirt, skinny jeans and sneakers(pretty standard because I love casual looks). Now I went into the Chanel store because I was showing my sister the bag I am going to buy myself for my 21st this year. When I stepped inside the store I automatically felt like I didn’t belong because of the way the security was looking at me and the sales assistant. Don’t get me wrong maybe they are paid to be intimidating, however my casual wear must of thrown them off, they probably were thinking I can’t afford a $5,000 bag. In reality I can, I could have bought it that minute but I don’t have to prove myself just because I don’t look like I can afford it. I mean come on I can put on really “posh” clothes and wear all the gold I own but does it really look like I need to prove myself? NAHH.. You guys know me, I’m so chilled.

However from then I started paying more attention to how people were treating me, judging by the way I was presented. (Again like I said it not always like this, it’s just my experience)
Not to be all technical but I guess it’s the way society is and assuming things. It is pretty standard to judge (good or bad) however it’s the sad truth that some of us will experience this.
My advice would be keep doing what you do, dress the way you want. The world is your runway regardless of how you dress. Just remember fashion is what you make of it and no one is above you, never let anyone have that power over you.

JUST OWN IT!
