Hi guys, hope everyone is doing well! (I say that every time, I really need to come up with a better opening line lol!) Anyways, I’m sharing an OOTD from yesterday. If you follow me on snapchat (duskavenue) you would know that I was in Sydney, I actually went to pick up my brother from the Airport. It was a lengthy 10 hours, I went with my sister and we stayed in the city from about 10am till 6pm (because what else does shopaholics do?) then finding the airport and waiting, it was crazy! so in short by the time we got home it was 12:30am (I know we should have stayed the night but it was short notice unfortunately) It was rough and we did end up getting lost because of me, mind you it isn’t the first time I have been to Sydney but it was my first time going to the Airport so I guess that counts for something!
Now moving on, what do you wear on day out for precisely 10 hours? COMFORTABLE SHOES/ CLOTHES! I cannot stress enough how important this is, trust me after yesterday I don’t think I can walk anymore.
My outfit was really nice, but not sure if it was practical for a 10+ hour day. It would have been better for me if I just wore a T-shirt, boyfriend Jeans and some good old superstars. I mean I hate waiting and we had to do it for hours and it’s not comfortable to be sitting in tight high waisted pants, So when we got in the car I literally unzipped my pants till we got to Canberra, I have no shame in admitting that! My advice would be if you are going on a trip just plan it out, example what you will be doing throughout the day and is that outfit realistic?
What I wore:
I bought this beautiful yellow coloured top from Sportsgirl, It’s a baggy top with a high neck. It’s a very different style for me, I hardly wear tops that have baggy sleeves. It was retailing for $89.95 however I scored it for $50 on sale. You guys know me and my sale items, it’s just meant to be! The only thing I didn’t like was the material was thick so it made me feel hot when I was walking around. It is a bulky top so it can either look flattering or unflattering (I don’t know how it went for me but ah well!)
I wore my good old trusty LEE high waisted pants. I did mention it’s not the most comfortable to be wearing for a lengthy time, but in saying that they are one of the best pair of pants I own. The only thing is sometimes you do get uncomfortable especially if it is very well fitted, which mine is! I have mentioned these previously and by memory I think I bought them for $120. Yes they are bit expensive, but you get the use out of them. Think about it like this, would you rather buy pants that are $40 and only last you a couple of months or spend more and for it to last you up to couple of years? It is important to invest in pants, in saying that you need ones that compliment you body shape (that is a whole topic on it’s own which I can do a post on if you guys would like!)
I have been wearing my lace up flats from Rubi Shoes quite a lot these days. They are very comfortable and soft. What does that mean? NO BLISTERS!! YAY! I’m not sure if Rubi Shoes sell this design anymore but if you do find them they are a good investment. I purchased mine for $25 which is pretty standard. Now comparing them to the fact that I wore them for 10+ hours, it’s little different. As it doesn’t have a lot of cushioning on the sole it hurts your feet more, It feels like you are walking bare foot after awhile. I mean if you wear them just for a day out they are great but you wouldn’t run a marathon in them?
I borrowed my sisters Black and Rose Gold Ted Baker bag, it’s pretty good all rounder bag, it is a tote so I was able to fit a lot of necessities in there. Price wise I’m guessing it’s around $200-$400, standard for a Ted Baker bag. It was a pretty good size swell, not too big and not too small either. That’s another thing to consider when going somewhere, the size of your bag! It also depends if you are someone that just needs there bank card and phone then you’re good to go or if you’re someone that needs a lot of bits and bobs (nothing wrong with either, I do both!)
The only accessory I had on was my name necklace from My Name Necklace Aus. I didn’t pay for it as it was gift however they are reasonably priced from what I have seen. My necklace says “Rasool” in Arabic, as some of you might know Rasool is my last name and I thought why not get it, also because I’m the baby (youngest) of the Rasool family. My sister likes to steal it and wear it, but that rarely happens because I wear it about 90% of the time! If you are looking for a gift for someone, it would be worth checking them out and seeing if there is anything that stands out for you. I remember I wanted my name necklace from the jewellers when I was in high school but it wasn’t really reasonably priced (not that a lot of things are these day ugh!)
P.S I’ll have an update post up soon, just filling you guys in on what I have been doing and what I will be doing in the next couple of months! Should be fun 🙂
Much Love – Dusk Avenue
