Hi guys! I hope you are having a lovely day/night! Today is R U OK? Day (Well obviously..from the title! lol)

Well I’m just going to start by saying I still strongly believe everyday should be R U OK? day, nevertheless I am glad we at least have a day dedicated to it. (am I right?) 

Why is it important?

We all are going through things, even on a daily basis and sometimes it’s really hard to talk to people. We think ‘what if I get judged’, ‘They will think I complain too much’ etc etc etc.

Sound familiar?

YUP, I have those exact thoughts. You know I promote positivity and empowerment but the truth is, life isn’t always rainbows and cakes (One could wish right?)

I have days where things just get too much. To be quite honest, this current week has been really rough for me. I actually haven’t been dealing the best, I had some setbacks and some not so nice people have been….not so nice and I’m only human so of course it affects me. It’s so easy to cover it up and be in denial or even bury it. But that isn’t going to help me, in fact all it’s going to do is make me overthink turbo charged. So I like to talk to people I trust and it’s great getting a different outlook. It makes me look at things differently and ways I can help myself get out of a rut.

It saddens me that so many people bury their feelings and they don’t actually seek help or even just talk to someone they trust.  The most important thing is, if it affects you, it matters. 

Nothing is too minor!

For me the most important quality is hope. Have hope, in everything in life. Everything does eventually have a way of working out, however how you get there is up to you. I am not here to force people into talking about their feelings because that defeats the purpose of it. However I just want to say how important it is to talk and acknowledge your feelings.

Your emotions are what make you human, don’t ignore them.  Sometimes all you need is for someone to say “it’s going to be ok, you’ll be ok”.

Aside from talking about, it’s OK to not be OK.

We all live in such a fast paced lifestyle, always on the go and we hardly get down time unless we force ourselves ( I do this all the time!) People forget that if you are not ok it’s ok. You don’t have to always be chipper and excited. We all have our days, it’s ok. It’s completely normal.

Now, please NOT JUST ON R U OK? Day ask ‘r u ok?’ whether it is to family, a friend, a co worker or even the guy that makes your morning coffee at your favourite coffee shop on the way to work.

NO MATTER what you are going through, there is always help. There is always someone to talk to.
